Safari President Information

This page was created to provide you information on the document that I, Safari Past President Dave Krajcar, created as a tool to help succeeding presidents successfully manage the operations of the Safari Association of Ilwaco.

Back in February, 2023 I had decided not to run for re-election in September. I knew that it was essential that there be a good transition to the new president and the best way I could think of to do that was to write it all down. So in March, I created an outline of what needed to be documented. In April, I started drafting the text from the outline and by May it had grown to some 50 plus pages!

It was my hope that the hours I spent documenting all this would help all future presidents know what has to be done as Safari President. The new president now has the document, or "book" as I now call it, and I hope they add to it for their successors.

I also realized that it would be good for the entire board to have this document. They would have a much better handle on what tasks and challenges the president must deal with and should be in a better position to encourage and assist the president in these areas.

I also feel that the membership should have access to this document. You will have a much better understanding of what the president faces and can adjust your expectations of the president accordingly. I feel that in the interests of greater transparncy, you should have this information.

So I invite you to peruse this document if you so wish. There are two links below you can click on to view the document. The first link is an online view where you can click on the item in the table of contents and then view that item. The second link is to a downloadable pdf file suitable for offline viewing or printing as desired.

Realistically, I would not expect members to read this "cover to cover." I would encourage you to read the first and last chapters and then read any topics of interest to you. If you have any questions or comments on the document, please email them to book@dsk.guru and use the subject of "Book."
